Detroit ‘Backpage’ murders investigation turns to computers, cell phones

The focus of the investigation into the so-called “Backpage” murders have now turned to the evidence that was collected during raids this week.

Only Local 4 cameras are rolling as a task force of local, state and federal investigators searched a Sterling Heights home on Tuesday and removed computers, cell phones and other items.

Two of the women were so severely burned that their cause of death is still undetermined. But the other two women had no signs of physical trauma, and even with toxicology results back, their cause of death is also unknown – an indication the killer or killers were able to hide their method.

The evidence in December showed these women had placed escort ads on the website

The two men taken into custody are cousins, 24 and 32 years old from Sterling Heights.

Top forensic investigators have until Friday to find evidence that could lead to charges or the men would have to be released.
